Summer Is Just About
Here...Allergies May Not Be Taking a Vacation.
Summer is just about here for most parts of the country. Some of our
customers up north are still having a few cold snaps but all and all summer is
pretty much here. Many people think the runny noses and red eyes of spring are
behind them and it is for some, but for others summertime just brings different
symptoms.
In early spring the budding trees produce the symptoms associated with
allergies, watery/itchy eyes, runny noses and constant sneezing. Then starting
in April and ending in May your discomfort is triggered by pollens from grasses
and flowering plants.
Now as summer starts to heat up it gets drier in some places and more humid
in others. When it gets really dry the vegetation starts to die allowing it to
get blown around by the wind along with the dirt and dust. Very humid climates
produce an excellent environment for the mold and mildew which grow on dead
grass and leaves and other plants. Another problem associated with high humidity
is the increase in the dust mite population. Once the heat is off and the
humidity level increases you may notice you’re stopped up and/or sneezing when
you wake up in the morning.
Either way you may find that your allergy symptoms have not gone away this
summer just changed. Here are just a couple of little tings you can do to help
yourself during the summer season.

Wear a pollen or dust mask
when outdoors for a long period of time.
·
Keep doors and windows closed
up during heavy pollen counts
·
Change or clean
air-conditioner filters monthly, high quality pleated filters every
couple of months.

If using a window
air-conditioner, keep it off when no one is at home. Once it is turned
on, stay out of the room for at least thirty minutes as some window
units emit short bursts of mold when they are first turned on. (Hard to
keep window units clean)
Mold and Your Air Conditioning System
Mold is a natural part of our world. It is everywhere we go. It plays a very
important part in our world by breaking down dead organic matter such as leaves,
decayed trees, grass cuttings and other things of nature. It does not belong
indoors and should be avoided.
It grows in your A/C Unit because it is a wet environment by the coils. The
coil is a vital part of your air conditioning system. If it is not kept clean,
your system will not work efficiently.

Air Pollution Endangering Lives Of 6 In 10
Americans, Report
Over 185 million Americans or about 6 out of every 10 people in the US live
in areas where the air is so polluted that it endangers life, said a new report
released earlier this week.
Although there has been a lot of progress against air pollution, nearly every
major US city still has bad air pollution and for many of them the figures show
the air this year is dirtier than it was last year.
American Lung Association National Board Chair, Stephen Nolan said this should
be a "wake up call".
"We know that air pollution is a major threat to human health, when 60 percent
of Americans are left breathing air dirty enough to send people to the emergency
room, to shape how kids' lungs develop, and to kill, air pollution remains a
serious problem," he said.
