Why
Ultra Violet?
Ultraviolet water
sterilizers contain lamps that produce "germicidal UV," or UV-C. This
produces radiation of much greater intensity than that of sunlight. UV
is a highly effective method of destroying microorganisms.
How Does
UV work?
The UV radiation initiates
a photochemical reaction that destroys the genetic information contained
in the DNA of the microbes like bacteria, viruses, molds,
cryptosporidium and giardia. Once they have been exposed they lose
their reproductive capability and are destroyed. The cell is now
considered dead and is no longer a threat.
Will UV
make water taste funny?
UV disinfection leaves no
taint, chemicals or residues in the treated water. Filtration systems
using UV light is quick and clean.
